UNIX Commands From Last Week

cd
-- change directory
pwd
-- print working directory
ls
-- list
cat
-- concatenate (display file contents)
more
-- just plain ``more'' (displays file contents)

Review of last week - "The Holy Wars Begin"

  1. Go to the root afs directory
    cd /afs
  2. Type ls and look around you should find a lot of schools like MIT Carnegie Mellon (cmu), and others including a few Naval acadamies. Go into one of them.
     cd cmf.nrl.navy.mil 
  3. Now if you do an ls here you will find a users directory. Go into it.
     cd users
  4. Just like RPI, you can now see all of students that attend cmf naval academy. Let's check out Heidi's account!
    cd heidi
  5. Do an ls and you'll see she is quite the programmer. Let's go into her Dilbert directory and look at some pictures she has.
    cd dilbert

  6. Feel free to look around some more and at some of the other students stuff, even at other schools.
