Notes
- There are loads of nice graphics to download at
http://www.cbil.vcu.edu:8080/gifs/bullet.html that you
can use to make your home page more attractive. It has
round and circular bullets, stamps, and bars.
- You can ``steal'' pictures from the WWW using Netscape.
If you see an image that you want, click and hold the right mouse
button on it (a new menu will appear) and drag down to
``Save this Image As...'' to save the
image into your account.
- If you want to save space on your account you can display a picture
on your homepage that actually resides on another page. To do this, find
a picture you like, go to VIEW - Document Source on the menu bar. Find how
the document locates the picture and then add that to the page's address.
For instance, if the document calls up the picture like:
<img src="images/cool.gif">
And the page's address is:
http://www.anyplace.com/~mypage
Then you would display their picture on your page like so:
<img src="http://www.anyplace.com/~mypage/images/cool.gif">
Please note though, that you are at the mercy of the original page. They
can change or delete their image at any time and then you would lose the image from your page.
- Keep it clean people. Don't put anything on your homepage that you
wouldn't want your mother to see. It takes a lot to offend me, however, I
don't want the powers that control my pay check to be browsing my homepage
and come to the conclusion that my classes are less than wholesome or
politically correct.
- Next week, we'll be learning about image maps, frames, transparent gifs,
and tables.
- Finally, at the end of class next week we will have
quiz2.
