Referencing Non-Web Information
One of the real strengths of the HTML language is that all anchors (hypertext
pointers), regardless of the kind of information they point to, look the same
on a Web page.
An FTP Example
A nice ftp site to use is <A HREF="ftp://ftp.cdrom.com">ftp.cdrom.com</A>.
appears in the browser as:
A nice ftp site to use is ftp.cdrom.com.
An E-mail Example
<A HREF="mailto:escobj@rpi.edu">Contact me!</A>
appears in the browser as:
Contact me!
